Social Skills Groups - Summer 2019

Huntsville Behavior Associates is offering an 8 week social skills class this summer.

Child’s Play - Social Superheroes

Description:

For entering 3rd-6th graders consisting of 2 ½ hour sessions.
The first half will emphasize sensory regulation/behavior regulation strategies (Zones of Regulation). The second half of each session will emphasize social skills geared specifically to the needs of this age group. Our campers will be introduced to our superhero; “Superflex”, who teaches us to have flexible thinking as we take on “Rockbrain and the Team of Unthinkables”! We will learn to keep our bodies “in the green zone” and strategies to use if I move into the yellow or red zones in order to get back to green. This year’s campers will also learn about interoception—-the 8th sensory system.

Schedule:

Meets Tuesdays from 10:00-12:30
Dates are: 6/4, 6/11, 6/18, 6/25, 7/9, 7/16, 7/23, 7/30 (does not meet July 2)
You can choose any 6 sessions OR all 8 sessions

Cost:

6 sessions: $225 by May 10 OR $255 after May 10
8 sessions: $295 by May 10 OR $325 after May 10

Open Door

Social Skills groups incoming this Summer to an Open Door office near you! We will match age, interest and functioning level. We want our clients to “model upwards”; this is vital to us, and to our clients. Broadening fixations and MAINTAINING relationships will be our main focus. Let’s not meet one night and then go home to our same routine. We will target reaching out to acquaintances AFTER the group time is over. Text your buddy, email a friend and make some set plans! Effective Communication

For those not wanting a regular, weekly group experience for their child, we have ongoing social skills groups in Huntsville.  These groups use the same techniques as our camps to teach social skills, and meet for one hour per week on Monday afternoons.  We currently have space to add more participants and more groups.
